You would be at least paying more attention to the story of the game which in turn will make the big reveal a bit less shocking. I think that the game would be rather worse if the first act was more interesting. The reveal period lasts so shortly that i just realized the massive buildup when Sayori's weird poem appeared.
The first act is long enough to make you forget the disclaimers and receive the full effect of the big reveal. i hope someone makes a mod that removes the horror and fleshes out dating the other girls. Her character just struck me as being so real, she honestly seemed even realer than Monika to me) thats understandable. (And I'm with you on Yuri fam, doing her character's storyline for the brief time that you can was devastating. I would love to see another dating sim that focuses on such dark things however, assuming DDLC would never get a "real" version, as most dating sims stay pretty light hearted.
